How Do I Know If I Have Bed Bugs

bed bug detectors stop bugs

As a habitat, bedbugs prefer dark and quiet areas, near food sources (human blood). They hide in places hard to reach, in furniture and wall cracks, in the seams of mattresses or upholstery. They are attracted to carbon dioxide and the heat coming from people. They are usually active during the night, when there is no light on.  So in most cases it’s good to hire a bed bug detector Denver area to determine if they are present and how to rid your house of them.

Because they have a flattened body, they can easily hide in places where they are difficult to detect. Bedbugs generally prefer to stay in groups, and where there are large infestations, you can sense an unpleasant smell.

If you have irritated skin or notice small red spots on your face, arms, legs or chest, it might be a sign that you have bed bugs. To make sure the bugs are to blame for the red marks on your body, look at the pattern. Those made by these insects often appear as straight lines and zigzags.

However, some people may not have such a physical reaction, and, in this case, you should look for other signs:

  • Red or brown spots on the bed linen or clothes
  • Shell casings (bed bugs lose their casings as they grow)
  • White clusters on the furniture (these could be bedbug eggs or eggshells; they are in the shape of rice grains and have a translucent white colour, sometimes bright).
